Fellowship vs. Personal Relationship series Fellowship with the righteous is contingent on one thing; we must keep His commandments. Those who keep His commandments are the only ones that God will have companionship, sharing having, or giving a sharing in Him. Fellowship means companionship, familiar interaction, sharing having or giving a share in the Kingdom with the God head and the body as we are in a corporate partnership together in Christ Jesus that by our association together we have a mutual aim and interest. Do we have fellowship with each other? Can we have fellowship with the wicked and unrighteous? Let’s look at these two areas in the light of fellowship. Who is the Righteous? Those who are righteous are Christians (Acts 11:26). He is righteous (1 John 2:1). We are made righteous by Christ in Christ (Rm. 5:19 & 6:18; 1 John 2:29 & 3:7).   Those that are in Him and obediently live in Him are righteous. So all those in Him have fellowsh...

How? Well, let’s look quickly before we close our study of fellowship with the Godhead. We are not of flesh but of the Spirit. That the Spirit dwells in us and if any one does not have the Spirit then he does not belong to Christ ( Rm. 8:9 ). 1 Cor. 3:16 lets us know we are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in us. We are in communion with the Spirit ( 2 Cor. 13:14 ). Yes ( John 14:20-23 ). Again, this fellowship is contingent on you and me keeping His commandments ( John 14:21; Matt. 28:20; Heb. 5:9; 1 John 2:6 ).   Although many want to argue that it is a relationship we are to have with Christ. That phrase it neither used, nor taught in the Word. In fact something much greater and richer is. Fellowship is emphasized by Christ and reinforced in His teaching. Do you spend more time watching T.V. than you do studying the word? Do you sometimes struggle engaging in the preaching you hear? Does the preaching just seem to drab or slow? I have heard many say that so and so ’s preaching needs some spice. That they want something that's going to move them. Something thing that's just really exciting etc. Have you thought that yourself? Why is it so different for us? Our parents and grandparents didn't have that issue. Nor did the New Testament church.   It's Just Not Exciting Enough Is there something that is effecting you? Yes! T.V. and electronics. There are countless studies that show the ill effects of such things. T.V. addiction is one of them. Many people have it and don’t even know it. How many times have you got home from work and just turned on the T.V. without thinking about it? Just like you log on your computer and somehow it always ends up on Face Book. “Where does the Bible say “personal relationship with Jesus” and how do I get that?” I have heard many ask this question , and I wondered myself the first time I heard it. Like all other new candies that entice Christians , it has become a topic of conversation. However, no one can quite answer this question which is referring to a relationship with Christ. Yet when you turn to the New Testament there is no terminology, scripture and / or teaching that would point us to such a thought. The Old Testament doesn’t allude to it either. So, what do we do? Like always , we need to dig down and look in the Word to understand what is being said and where it stems from.  The subject of instruments and clapping in worship is an interesting one. I know this a controversial topic. I’m well aware that as a “Christian” group we do not all agree on the same opinion in the matter. I would like to bring you today not an opinion but fact on this topic. I pray that with an open heart you will read, search the scriptures for yourself and discover what God commands.  Mosaic Covenant When we examine the Mosaic covenant, we see that the music conducted was both in song and with instruments. Special assignments were given by God. This was done by God through His prophets and overseen by King David ( 1 Chron. 25:1-7; 2 Chron. 29:25-30 ).  We must keep in mind that the singers from the tribe of Levi and instruments of music were not merely authorized but that they were commanded.
