Fishers of Men

"Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
(Matt. 4:19)

“Fishers of men” is what Christ told the apostles he would make them (Matt. 4:19; Mark 1:17). In Matt. 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, and Luke 24:46-49 we are commanded to do just that. As children of God by immersion into Christ's authority by submersion into water we have work to do. Although we are one body (Eph 4:4-6) we have many parts (Romans 12:4-5). So that work is different for each member. We are not all talented in the same ways nor are we the same body part. However, we are called to do the same thing. We are called to be disciples, baptized in the name of Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We are to observe everything Christ commanded. Christ says pick up your cross daily (Luke 9:23). Paul makes it clear in (2 Tim. 3:12) that it will not be easy.
The goal of this blog is to make Christians fair minded in that we receive the word with readiness checking the scriptures daily to find out if what we hear is true (Acts 17:11). There are three ways in this blog that this is done.

      1.  It’s an evangelism tool. It’s meant to preach the word (
            Tim. 4:1-2
).  We need to be growing in our maturity in
Christ and we need to be spreading the word. This blog is
meant to give you material to study with others. It’s meant
give you a solid go to for answers when others ask for the
reason of the hope that is in you (1 Pet. 3:15). Or if you’re
not a talker it can serve as a place to send others to find
answers. This blog is meant to educate the brethren so that
we can be certain about what we believe.

     2. To mature Christians in Christ. This blog is geared to get folks
studying and challenging others to study the word. We need
to be grounded in the word and the word alone. The word is
Christ commands (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 2:42). The apostles
only taught what they had been commanded. That means
even what is written is a command. The word is God
breathed (2 Tim. 3:16-17). The early church did not argue
           with this fact.

     3. To restore the body of Christ. It’s meant to strengthen those
that are being faithful.  We are not meant to be binding
ourselves by others thoughts and or opinions. This blog is
meant to get Christians back on the path of righteousness
and to get the church back walking the walk (1 John 2:5-6),
To restore the Christianity to the true definition (Acts 11:19-
           26; Acts 8:1-4; Acts 2:5-47
), and to restore the body to
observing the commands of Christ (Matt. 28:20).

Yes, there is a certain way God wants it done. This blog is meant to get us back to viewing things the way God does. He expects us to be faithful (Rev. 2:10). This is a blog written by a body of Christ minister. I adhere to the word of God alone. Man is not the one that is going to be doing the judging on judgment day. God is going to be judging us. Therefore, I care about what God desires of me and His children. Although man may sound good and some may not accept the words statement on matters, God is always right. Let us be followers of God not men.  Let us be doers not hears only deceiving our selves (James 1:22). It takes more than saying you believe (James 2:18-19). In this blog there will be contextual scriptural studies done and presented. As we study the word as a whole. Our God is not a God of confusion (1 Cor. 14:33). Let us reason together and learn the way God wants us to be (Acts 17:2,17; Acts 19:8). Let us be students of the word. The churches of Christ greet you (Rm. 16:16).

The Unselfish Heart and Liberal Hands

“Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.” Acts 2:44-45 There was an old woman who lived in a home by herself.   She was able and in her right mind.   She would wake up every morning and pray.   She always prayed for everyone, even her grocery list.   She knew everything she had was a blessing from God.   The kicker here is she lived next to a faithless man. He would wake up every morning and hear this old lady pray. After some time he grew indignant with her mindless praying so he said “I’m going to get her good.”   Knowing she always prayed for her groceries he woke up early one morning and jotted her list down as she prayed. He slipped out the door and bought the best of every item.   He neatly placed them in a basket and set them at her front door. He then rang the door bell and ran. Hiding in the bushes he saw her come out and...

Whispers & Squeaky Wheels

When we make concessions for deviation from the word we began to die spiritually. (2 Cor. 11:1-4)   Anyone who says “I know Him” and does not keep His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in Him (1 John 2:4). We too often lay claim to being God’s while forsaking Him. Hey, that is just easier to do. Like all things we would rather just say we have a connection to something than actually commit. Seriously, what would you do if something went bad? So, let’s just say "Yeah, I know Him." Then we can do what we want. That is how many want to treat Christianity. John was speaking on such atrocities when he stated that if we claim to know Him we must keep His commands or be a liar. Sounds Good To Me     We need to be seeking to be doers of the word not just hearers only. James 1:22  makes it clear when James says for us to be doers of the word not hearers only deceiving ourselves.   The deception comes in the fact we are ...

The Danger of Apathy: Cause for Spiritual Failure

It is easy for us to be stagnate because we live a life surrounded by stimulation and change. We like to see growth in the church and if it takes too long, we move on. It is wearisome to run the race of endurance ( Heb. 12:1-2 ). It is the same work every week and often times we become indifferent in our Christian walk. Apathy is extremely dangerous. When we develop an unenthusiastic mindset toward the Bible, Christianity, and our worship to God we begin to wither away. Is That Me?      The Lord wants our work to be zealous, continuous, and fervent ( Gal. 4:18; Tit. 2:14 ). When we are lukewarm, we know that we must serve God, but we are half-hearted about doing so ( Gal. 5:13; Heb. 12:28 ). Our lack of zeal shows in our apathy toward sin, limited worship attendance, and not bearing much fruit for God ( Rm. 6:1-2; Heb. 10:25; Col. 1:10 ). These are all red flags. Also, being lukewarm can be seen in ...
