Jesus Is King

Jesus is the King and ruler over His church. (Heb. 3:4; Col. 1:18; Phil. 2:9-11; Eph. 5:22-33; Acts 20:28; Matt. 28:18-20; 16:18)

Man does not control Christ's church. Man does not make the "rules" or doctrine of Christ's church. Man is not the head of Christ church. Man is not the King or authority in Christ's Kingdom.

We are His own special people, living souls, in Him. We are being built up and are the makeup of the Kingdom He has added us to. That is what Jesus died for so that in Him we would be saved and have life. ( 1 Pet. 2:5-9, 24; Rev. 1:5; Col. 2:11-33; Eph. 5:30; Gal. 3:27; 1 Cor. 12:27; Acts 2:47; John 17:20-26)

We are but servants. He is the Head, and we serve Him as God has set forth. God makes that clear in His word and we are to follow His word. ( John 1:14, 17; 8:31-32; 12:48-50; 14:1-6, 26; 15:7, 9-10, 26; Gal. 1:1-10; 2 Tim. 3:16-17) God's own servants say they are but servants. (1 Cor. 9:19-23; Galatians 2:20; Phil. 1:21) Jesus made it clear He was in subjection to the Father and His commands. (Matthew 26:39-44; John 4:34; 10:18; 12:49; Phil. 2:5-11).

Jesus taught us to pray that very thing ourselves (Luke 11:2). Jesus said we are His mother, brother, and sister if we do the Fathers will (Mar. 3:36). Jesus taught that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Mattthew 7: 21-23). Jesus even said we are unprofitable simply doing what we are told. (John 17:10)

We are here to follow God. It has always been that way. (Ecc. 12:13-14; John 8:31-21; 12:48; 14:21; 1 John 5:2-3; 1 Cor. 15:1-5; Romans 10:14-17; James 1:22-25) As such, we do what He says, and we get what He promised. God has always made that clear.

May I ask, if you, as a man, serve in any way at work, volunteering, or in any secular capacity, does that mean you are governing it? For example, if you step into a soup kitchen to feed the homeless. Upon entering, you are given a sheet of clear instructions for the safety and equity of the patrons entering. Then you carry that instruction out as a volunteer and spend your day serving the homeless. Have you entered into a patriarchy? Are you now governing that work? Are you running that soup kitchen? Or are you simply serving in a specific role?

Where is it in scripture that we are governed by men? Where is it in scripture that we are ruled by men? Where in scripture do we find that we are controlled by men? Where is it in scripture that His church is by men or a man rules it or governs it?

It is when we no longer respect Jesus Christ's rule and authority as King that we find ourselves relegating His church to men and teachings that we can disagree with. We should hold to the fact that He is King. He is the Head of His church.  He has given clear commands. We are but servants freely and gladly carrying out those commands. We love our King. His promise given to those who are in faithful service is beyond imagination.

I serve my King and am in subjection to Him. I follow His clear instructions. I serve Him and mankind according to my King's commands. I serve men, for in so doing, they may be partakers of eternal life with me. Do you?

A Little Bit of Singing & A Whole Lot of Accompaniment.

The subject of instruments and clapping in worship is an interesting one. I know this a controversial topic. I’m well aware that as a “Christian” group we do not all agree on the same opinion in the matter. I would like to bring you today not an opinion but fact on this topic. I pray that with an open heart you will read, search the scriptures for yourself and discover what God commands.  Mosaic Covenant When we examine the Mosaic covenant, we see that the music conducted was both in song and with instruments. Special assignments were given by God. This was done by God through His prophets and overseen by King David ( 1 Chron. 25:1-7; 2 Chron. 29:25-30 ).  We must keep in mind that the singers from the tribe of Levi and instruments of music were not merely authorized but that they were commanded. Even in Nehemiah we see the use of instruments. This was done according to the commandment we see in the ordinance for the restored temple services. Nehemiah says ...

True Friendship

When friendship comes to my mind, I think of two relationships in Scripture. They are Jesus and John and David and Jonathan. Jonathan loved David as his soul. 1   John was the one that Jesus loved, and you can see it in the gospel of John. 2 Not because Jesus showed it so much, but by the in-depth writing, John provides you can see how close they were. John was always with Jesus. John was so close to Jesus; he leaned on the chest of Jesus and asked Christ, who would betray him at the last supper. We see the same closeness between Jonathan and David when Jonathan sought to save David, when Saul’s edict to kill David, went out. 3   These two examples are what I believe God wants with us and wants us to desire to have with Him and His body.      The mentioned examples of friendship are the friendship we find deep in the fellowship that John speaks of in 1 John 1:1-10. Godly friendship is a friendship that is not one-sided. It...

I See You

We often see just the sins of people. We see their sins ripple effects of pain and heartache impact others. We shake our heads or cross the street to avoid their presence.  When we know our own dark thoughts. The chains that bind our dreams in darkness. The weights that burden our hearts. The hurts and pains that plague our lives. Those are different right? We are different than that other person. At least we don't (fill in the blank) when we hurt or our ripple effects are different.  Careful lest we say, " ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. ‘I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ (Luke 18:11-12).  We know not what weaknesses others survive and overcome just to have their feet hit the floor when the sun rises. We know not the burdens and self-talk that plague their lives. We know not what holes are in their hearts that are keeping them from being whole.  Let us be...
